Project Tour: Willowleaf Cottage

Our Willowleaf Cottage project is a full-home remodel rooted in timeless character - taking a once builder-grade home and reimagining it with thoughtful details, layered textures, and a fresh balance of modern design and cottage charm. Located in Austin, Texas, this project was about creating a home that feels timeless, inviting, and tailored to the way a growing family lives every day.
Throughout the home, we focused on elevating the architectural character while keeping the spaces warm and approachable. Sage green trim throughout paired with warm oak floors brings in traditional charm while staying rooted in a classic foundation. Soft curves, natural materials, and subtle contrast bring depth to each room, while modern finishes ensure the home feels current and enduring.
Kitchen
Before
The kitchen underwent one of the most dramatic transformations. What was once a standard, builder-grade layout is now a bright and functional heart of the home. We introduced custom cabinetry, layered finishes, and updated lighting to create a space that feels both refined and welcoming. Modern elements are softened with cottage-inspired details, striking a balance between clean lines and lived-in warmth. Soapstone on the island contrasts with the warm marble on the perimeter. Some of our favorite details are the custom carved island legs, the wood corner cabinet among the off-white cabinetry, and the handmade cafe curtains on the windows.
Living Room
In the living room, we leaned into comfort without sacrificing style. Updated finishes, intentional styling, and a more cohesive color palette give the space a relaxed elegance. The result is a room that feels grounded and inviting, perfect for everyday family life while still feeling elevated. We especially love the curved arms and carved legs on the custom green velvet sofa, the vintage coffee table, and the moody tapestry that brings in a vintage charm. Here we kept the original plantation shutters and painted them in the same sage green as the trim, since it worked so nicely with the other cottage elements we brought into the project.
Entryway
The entryway sets the tone for the entire home. We transformed this often-overlooked space into a moment of arrival by adding character-driven details and visual interest. Before, the entryway had built-ins that felt disconnected, so we added moulding and paint to tie the two sections together. We fully reimagined the stairs to have a curved wood banister and tapered spindles. It now feels warm, layered, and reflective of the home’s overall cottage-meets-modern aesthetic.
Primary Bath
The primary bath was completely reimagined into a serene retreat. Clean lines, calming finishes, and spa-inspired details create a space that feels restorative and luxurious, while still connected to the home’s overall cottage warmth. The chocolatey mauve on the custom cabinetry grounds the space, while the natural stone everywhere else feels airy, classic, and elegant. We especially love the carved legs on the vanity, tying into the carved details in the kitchen and living room.
Powder Bath
The powder bath was treated as a true design moment. The moody, dark paint color and thoughtful details turn this small space into a standout, proving that even the most compact rooms can make a big impact.
Girls’ Bath
Designed with both function and charm in mind, the girls’ bath blends playful elements with timeless finishes. We created a custom floor mosaic out of penny tiles, which our clients' girls thought looked like butterflies! We love how this design feature paired with the pink-veined marble on the counters. Durable materials ensure longevity, while soft colors and subtle details keep the space feeling light, fresh, and age-appropriate as the girls grow.
