Figuring out how to use open shelving in kitchen and dining rooms can be tricky. You want to display functional pieces that you use daily while also mixing in beautiful decor pieces, all while not making the shelves look too cluttered. We put together a few of our favorite tips to get you started!

Tip 1: Create Triangles

When organizing decor on your shelves, try to make triangles with the pieces. This includes grouping the pieces in groups of 3 with varying heights, and by organizing those groups in triangles across shelves. This allows your shelves to appear organized and uncluttered while staying visually appealing.

Tip 2: Mix Materials & Shapes

Unless you want to fill your shelves with all one things for a specific vibe, like books in a library, mixing and matching the types of items on your shelves adds visual interest to the room. You can use decor pieces you've collected from travels, plants, sculptural elements like vases, books, candles, and more.
